How to Find Popular Domain Names?

Choosing a domain name for your website is one of the most significant and crucial decisions. Your domain name has to be memorable and should reflect the kind of service your website offers. From an SEO perspective, your domain name should be easily picked up by the web crawler program and show up on search lists. One of the simplest things you can do is to choose a .com domain name. It will help you to ensure that people remember the name of your website. Most people find it much easier to remember a .com website rather than any other extension.

Popular-Domain-NameAnother thing you can do is choose a domain name that does not contain words with alternative spellings. This can be a problem if you are giving out your website address to someone orally. They could misspell a particular word in your domain name and be directed to a different website. You can do better than diverting potential customers to a competitor website. Choose words that have a standard spelling and avoid changing spellings for gimmickry. Also, keep in mind that shorter domain names are easier to recall. Long domain names and those that contain special characters like hyphens are hard to remember and the customer would become frustrated trying to locate character marks on the keyboard. You should also avoid number substitutions for letters as well as slang in your domain name.

You need to choose a domain name strategically and take every precaution against a rival business taking up your domain name. An easy way to do this is to take up domain names with alternative extensions such as .org or .net and have the traffic to these domains directed to your original .com website. In this way, if a potential customer accidentally uses the wrong extension when entering the name of your website, they will automatically be directed to your website. Another thing you should do is to identify the keywords that customers typically use when searching for the service that you offer. Incorporating some of those keywords into your domain name can make SEO friendly website and make it highly visible in search results.

It is not the end of the road if your domain name has already been registered and used by someone else. If that particular domain name is really the most suitable one for you and you cannot think of any better alternatives, you can request the owner to sell it to you. WHOIS is a convenient online service that can help you find the person with whom a domain name is registered. Obviously, you need to avoid legal issues by using a domain name that contains copyright protected words such as brand names or names of other websites. You could come up with a domain name that reflects what your website does and also the nature of the industry you operate in. You can even come up with really creative names by choosing words that have potential for becoming successful and iconic brand names.
